Meet the family!
The Larkrigg ponies are part of the family and close to the heart of anyone who has learned to ride here. They are patient and well trained but all have personalities of their own!
Johan
Johan is a lovely boy very well schooled and is easy to ride, that’s why he is everyone’s favourite when they get to cantering
Chips
Chips is our lunge pony so if it is your first time riding chips would most probably be the pony that you would ride, he is a little bit grumpy in the stable and likes to be left alone!
Sully
Sully is a super pony he loves doing everything a real what we call all-rounder, however being grey means he is always dirty!
llanni
Lanni is our oldest pony within our riding school he was born in 1993!! He is only doing a little bit now so he is semi-retired, he loves children and he is the best at your first time canter.
Alfie
Alfie has been with us since 2018, he is a real showman and very popular with the girls as he is handsome!!
Jake
Jake is our biggest horse that we have in the riding school standing over 16HH, he might be big but he is a gentle giant and a real big softie.
Ffinlo
Ffinlo used to belong to Dannii who works here and we used to do a lot of showing with him, he then went to a lovely little girl called Mia so when Mia grew out of him she wanted us to have him back…… Welcome back Ffinlo
Mojo
Mojo spends most of his days asleep!!! He is a lovely boy and even though he is only young he is very quiet, if you are an older beginner you might get a lunge lesson or 2 on Mojo.
Blue
Blue is probably in his short time here become the firm favourite of most, he has a nice comfortable canter that you could sit to all day.
Lady
Lady came here in 2019 from a lovely family, she lived with 2 donkeys! She has been a real asset to our team here at Larkrigg a firm favourite with little ones as she is so patient to be groomed and plaited.
Mika
Mika is a real sweetheart, she is loved by everyone as she is so easy, she loves going round a course of jumps and loves doing games with the children.
Freda
Freda came to us in August 2020 from a Riding School over in Darlington. She may be big but she is a real softie at heart (until you try and pick her feet out!!!)
Sonny
Sonny is loaned to us from Libby, and what a pony he is……He might be small but he has a lot of jobs. He is our front of house, field mate, travel mate, holiday activity pony, pony ride pony…..he can even do driving what a superstar he is for his whole 9HH.
Elvis
Elvis now belong to us he was on working livery but Clare just didn’t get time to ride him as often as she would like so obviously he had to stay with a name like that!!!
Simba
Simba is a real character to have around the yard. He has been in another Riding School prior to coming here so he knows the ropes. He is already a massive favourite around here as he literally does everything..
Noddy
Noddy is another pony that is on loan to us, he belongs to a lady called Moya who also owns Dibbles who is on livery with us. He is a Highland pony and is quite a character, he likes not doing very much!!!
Jack (skewbald)
Jack arrived for us to try at the beginning of July and lets just say he isn’t going anywhere. He is a favourite with our pony clubbers and adults alike so he is a well loved member of our Larkrigg team.
Queenie
Queenie is a favourite already here at Larkrigg, she came from another riding school so she knows the ropes back to front
Fudge
Fudge has only arrived summer 2023 but everyone has fallen in love with him so a firm favorite here at Larkrigg
Rosie-Jo
Rosie-Jo is new to Larkrigg and came from a local Family who did everything with her, she really is a darling in every way. Unfortunately in 2017 she had to have her eye removed from a field accident so she only has one, this doesn’t stop her in any way shape or form. She is in charge of all our mares!
